Dr. Daniel Jean is the CEO of Wordstravel LLC and serves as Associate Provost at Montclair State University. He has twice graced the cover of Diverse Issues in Higher Education and was recently featured on PBS NewsHour for his role in improving outcomes for black and latino identified males. He has been featured/mentioned in the LA Times, NJ.com, Black Enterprise, Ebony Magazine, and the Hechinger Report. He is the founder of “PhinisheD/FinishEdD #WhoGotNext” an online community for over 24,000 future doctors and has presented 700+ seminars/keynotes for corporations and professional associations including McDonalds, PSE&G, National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), American College Personnel Association (ACPA), Consortium for Student Retention Data Exchange (CSRDE), National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in American Higher Education (NCORE), Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU), National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) and the Southern Regional Educational Board (SREB). He has also shared his expertise at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of Maryland Baltimore County, University of Louisiana-Lafayette, Baruch College, the Fashion Institute of Technology, Northwestern University, University of South Florida, College of Central Florida, Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Western Kentucky University, Kentucky State University, Rutgers University, Meharry Medical College, and Clemson University.

He has taught undergrad and grad courses in consulting, student development, transformative leadership and hip-hop culture. As a college administrator, his retention initiatives have resulted in a 91.9% first-year retention rate and a 61% increase in the four-year graduation rate of a so-called “special admit” population. He is the chair and founder of three statewide college access/awareness conferences, and the Richard Wilson/Jason James Mentorship Program. His most recent play “Til Death Do Us Part?” ran Off-Off-Broadway in NYC to sold out shows.

He is the author of three indie books including his latest publication, “I Am…I Will…” an action-based interactive framework designed for the reader to proclaim their identity, declare their desired outcomes in the present and develop time-referenced action plans for the future. Dr. Jean serves on the board for the three doctors foundation and has received several accolades for his work include citations from the NJ and NY legislature, Educator of the Year Awards from Zeta Phi Beta Incorporated and Uprising Stars LLC, the ACPA Educational Excellence Erica Holloman Award, Alumni Award from Montclair State University and DEI Trailblazer Award from the African-American and NJ Chamber of Commerce. Lee’s father, a cab driver, taught her to play the guitar at age seven and they would sing together while she rode around town with him in his taxi going on calls. “My Daddy, who named me Brenda Lee after the amazing country singer, would always tell me one day you will be playing at the Grand Ole Opry and from that point on I knew I wanted to be a performer.”

Heavily influenced by legendary musicians like Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, The Judds Lorrie Morgan Susan Tedischi and Lynyrd Skynyrd, Lee’s personal sound is a mix between traditional Country and raspy Blues with an added Southern Rock flare.

When Lee was 20 years old, she joined a couple of bands and taught herself to play the drums. She travelled to New York City and had the privilege of singing backup for Artimus Pyle, Leslie Hawkins and JoJo Billingsly – three original members of Lynyrd Skynyrd.

In 2020, Lee won “Vocalist of the Year” at the Josie Music Awards. Her 2021 EP Undamaged, which she wrote, won “EP Album of the year” at Josie Music Awards and also Top 20 Best of 2021 for Women of Country. Lee’s newest full length album UNLEESHED, was released April, 2022. Lee wrote 9 of the songs on it. She won “Album of the year” at the Josie Music Awards show that was held at The Grand Ole Opry. She also was nominated for Song of the year with Carolina, and Artist of the year for Women of Country Best of 2022. UNLEESHED has artist Leona Williams, Pam Tillis, Lee Roy Parnell, Mike Rogers & Tim Watson appear on it.

As a tribute to the "cowgirl way of doing things" we had the distinct opportunity to sit down and chat with Amberley Snyder just in time for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo and the International Professional Rodeo Association IFR 52'!

Many of you may recognize Amberley Snyder from the critically acclaimed Netflix film, "Walk, Ride, Rodeo" which is based off a true story about her journey from, what seemed to be the worst tragedy of a lifetime, to the greatest victory of a lifetime!

"On January 10th, 2010 Amberley was on her way to the Denver Stock Show and Rodeo. As she was passing through Sinclair, WY she took a look down at her map. After only seconds she looked up and realized she had faded into the other lane, headed towards a metal beam. In an effort to get back in her lane, Amberley overcorrected. Her truck slid off the road and rolled and she was ejected from the vehicle. She was slammed into a fence post that broke her back and immediately she lost feeling in her legs.

After five hours of emergency surgery the doctor’s prognosis was she would never regain use or feeling below her waist. He told her if she had worn her seatbelt, she would still have use of her legs. The one mistake she made that day changed her life forever, but it has not defeated her competitive spirit. The top priority for Amberley was not even to walk, but to ride her horses again. Since then, Amberley continues to exhibit the true cowgirl attitude and spirit by continuing to ride, rodeo, schedule speaking engagements across the nation, hosting her highly anticipated and viewed "Wheel Chair Wednesday's" videos on Facebook, starting her own Foundation, and serving as an inspiration to others around the world!
